Q: Can I replace a two-prong outlet with a new grounded three-prong outlet?
Q: My well got dirty, what can cause
this?
Q1. Answer.Grounded type (three prong) outlets may not be substituted
for ungrounded (two prong) outlets unless a ground wire is connected. An exception to this rule is allowed when the outlet
is protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).
Q2. Answer.Wells can get cloudy/dirty for many reasons.
One reason is over use, a person can over use their water well by drawing out more water than the well is capable of producing
or maybe the well is producting less water now. This is especially common in the drier times of the year when the water
table drops. What happens is that the pump will suck on the formation and particles may become loosened. It is
important to allow your well to recover from an this type of episode, depending on your sitiuation, it may take a few hours
or longer.
To large of pump in a well may cause a well to become dirty, or sandy if in a sandy formation.
Wells may also become discolored by the present of different minerals or bacteria, such as iron bacteria. Iron bacteria
can also plug up the water system, there are many iron bacteria solutions on the market these days.
If you are
having a well problem, it is best to have someone to come out and look at your well and look at the water or lack of and make
a proper determination.
For iron bacteria problems or other water quality issues, there are many filters
available on the market that can help.
